Why do we need this tool?
In our fast-changing world, new tasks are added to existing tasks all the time, and that change affects the things we’ve already started.
Prioritizing tasks in this environment is challenging, and often people and teams fail to set a clear focus that helps decide which tasks get energy and which do not.
Flow management helps individuals, teams and project teams to keep work visible together, to prioritize it together and to be able to react calmly to change together at all times. This synchronizes everyone and sets a clear focus.
What is the tool «Flow Management (Kanban)»
The flow control tool is a visual representation of upcoming tasks in the form of a board that can be viewed together. Each task runs through this board through the columns «1: Options», «2: Prioritized», «3: Doing», «5: Waiting for something» and «6: Done». Everyone can see at any time which task is where, who is working on it and what new things are coming in that will affect the current work.
How and where can I use this tool?
You can use the flow management to map your own work, have more clarity about your tasks and be able to talk better with other people in the team about your priorities.
You can use flow management in a team to map out shared tasks and set clear focus and priorities together and to see at all times which tasks are where and who is working on them.
Flow management is also a great tool for visualizing and planning upcoming tasks in interdisciplinary or ad-hoc teams.
